This is a sequel to the very successful and well reviewed Both Sides of the Force. It covers a short period in the City of London police until the hero runs away to the Home Office then onto a county force. Harrogate comes into it briefly, as does Kent. So even if you don't like the story, there's a nice look around the country.
There is much to criticise in the organisation of the police service, so I found it easy enough to pick particular subjects to highlight these, but there's also a lot to praise as well. The final years in the ID Unit, dealing with over 2.6 rapes and other serious sexual offences did to me what it would probably do to everyone. It will astound you what the law puts victims through.
I hope you enjoy the books and find them enlightening.
